Axel Tower was designed by Lundgaard & Tranberg Architects in 2017 and consists of five golden towers erected at one of the city’s most central addresses for an international law firm opposite Tivoli in the heart of Copenhagen.
In addition, the building’s “footprint” is relatively modest. There is a raised city garden, a cohesive landscape and space around the building, and it all helps to soften the boundaries and create an environment that invites both tourists and locals to stay at the building.
It was important for Lundgaard and Tranberg Architects that Axel Towers’ organic design language was also visible in the design of the auditorium placed in the heart of the building. It required a chair that could embrace the auditorium’s semicircle and create a cohesion between architecture and furniture.
Engelbrechts and the architects worked intensively on a design that allowed the Szene-chair to move along the curved steps of the auditorium. The result is a chair that seems modest in size, but which in the meeting with the body is very spacious. With its organic form, it embraces the body, enabling many different sitting positions. The slender shell that forms the backrest encloses the plump seat cushion and very precisely defines a room for each individual in the auditorium.
- The scene chair is versatile and can be adapted too many different solutions, fixed seat or tip up seat, with or without upholstery.
- Engelbrecht’s Szene auditorium chair is adapted to the auditorium. It provides better seating comfort and better visibility, and at the same time you hear better as an audience when these two criteria are met.
For the project in Alex Towers’, the choice fell on a fully upholstered version in leather, which complements the entire project’s uncompromisingness in materials, elegance and use.
The szene chair can be adapted to any desire so that the framework for the design of a project is met and addresses the customer’s needs to its fullness.
By 2020, many exciting extensions will be available in the Szene series.
